Prof. John Clement has been engaged in research on learning in science and mathematics at the University of Massachusetts for the past 30 years. His current research focuses on methods for helping students form and use visualizable models in science. This research is enhanced by studies of mental model construction by expert scientists during problem solving. He has published several books in these areas as well as a large number of articles on reasoning and learning in science. His work has been funded virtually continuously by the National Science foundation for the last 30 years. He has served on boards for the National Science foundation, and the National Science Board.
