Robby is a graduate student in the TESI doctoral program in the UMass School of Education. Before coming to UMass Amherst, he taught high school physics and chemistry at a high school in Cave Creek, AZ. On one fateful summer day in the city of Phoenix, while searching the internet, he discovered the Minds•On Physics curriculum by SRRI. Within a year, he was enrolled in classes and the journey commenced.

Robby joined SRRI’s TLT project in the Fall of 2006, and began working closely with local middle and high school teachers. The project has enabled him to explore three areas of growth in his professional career: as a teacher, a student, and a researcher. Some day he hopes to teach at the university and high school levels simultaneously.

In his non-academic time, Robby enjoys snowboarding, playing the guitar, traveling, and working with people in any capacity. Before coming to UMass, Robby had worked for 18 years with a character-based nonprofit organization in Scottsdale. He felt the time was ripe for change.

In hopes of broadening his horizons, Robby wants to learn several foreign languages and travel extensively.
